Rector Prof. Dr. BİRCAN represents Turkey at World Health Summit.

Prof. Dr. BİRCAN attended the World Health Summit with the appointment of Higher Education Council (YOK) and the invitation of Jakob Ellemann-Jensen, Denmark’s Minister of Environment and Food; while the opening speech of the summit was made by the Crown Princess Mary of Denmark.

Academicians, embassies, mayors, widely-known chiefs from 40 countries; as well as seven ministers; and senior managers of 48 major companies such as Alibaba, Google and IBM attended the first day of the Word Health Summit hosted by the Princess of Denmark.

Rector Prof. Dr. Cavit BİRCAN had the opportunity to have a talk with the Crown Princess Mary of Denmark about “Turkey and refugees”, and the extraordinary deeds of Turkey for the millions of refuges in Turkey and for all the aggrieved in the world. He also had a conversation with Jakob Ellemann-Jensen, Denmark’s Minister of Environment and Food; and Harsimrat Kaur Badal, the Union Cabinet Minister of Food Processing in the Government of India regarding the food crisis on earth and presented them a booklet regarding the status of Turkish food sector and some gifts unique to Aydin.

On the second day of the summit, Prof. Dr. BİRCAN made a speech upon Food Safety in Turkey and Turkey’s Place in the Food Sector. Stating that he was honored to represent Turkey within such a special community, Prof. Dr. Cavit BİRCAN said: “the sessions where various topics from safe food production to gastronomy, food diseases, the prevention of wastefulness, the use of information technology in food sector, e-commerce, and their relationship with environment, health and economics and poverty were focused on were highly fruitful.

The Summit themed “Better Food for More People” that took place in Denmark’s Parliament Building lasted for two days with the participation of Turkish industrial organizations.
